News: Incentives get richer for company adding 270 jobs in Columbus

A company adding 270 jobs in Columbus has landed another incentive.

JobsOhio executed a $400,000 grant agreement last month with FacilitySource LLC, which is planning to add 272 jobs and $13.5 million in payroll in Central Ohio to its existing 323 jobs on the North Side of the city, according to information released by the state’s private development arm.

The company announced this year plans to expand at 200 E. Campus View Blvd. in the Crosswoods area. FacilitySource, which handles facilities management for a variety of clients, including an expansive list of retailers, is investing $1.54 million in building updates as well as machinery, equipment, furniture and information technology at the site.

This further enriches the incentives package to the company for its expansion project, which already has landed an eight-year jobs creation tax credit from the state tax credit authority worth as much as $1.58 million, as well as a four-year incentive package valued at $339,748 to $406,500 from the city.

In a release, Phoenix-based FacilitySource said it has seen 50 percent growth over the past 12 months, acquiring 11 new clients and expanding contracts with an additional eight in grocery, vitamins, fashion, logistics and wireless retail since the beginning of the year.

“We’re thrilled about the partnerships with our new and existing clients, and to see such tremendous growth year over year,” CEO Bill Hayden said in the statement. “We will continue to manage our clients’ maintenance problems quickly and without disruption to maintain this upward trajectory and secure our position as an industry leader.”

JobsOhio incentives typically come later in the game than state tax incentives and city incentives, which are usually offered as a company narrows possible locations for expansion. Executing the agreement to make the investments in exchange for JobsOhio funds effectively seals the deal on an expansion project.

Two other previously announced expansion projects cemented their plans for long-term growth in Central Ohio last month, with Diversified Systems Inc. landing a $50,000 economic development grant for its plan to invest $1 million to grow its workforce with a move to Gahanna, and Fluvitex USA Inc. landing $100,000 for its new new Groveport distribution center that will add 80 jobs.
